Canadian consumer sentiment dropped last week as optimism about the economic outlook and job security fell, survey data show.

The Bloomberg Nanos Canadian Confidence Index declined to 59.6 in the week ended Oct. 3 from 60.0 in the prior period. The survey-based index has averaged 58.9 this year. A gauge of optimism about real-estate prices rose, while sentiment about personal finances was little changed.
