Kurd Leader Warns Turkish Peace Hinges on Besieged Town

Turkey must stop Islamic State’s onslaught of Kobani, a Kurdish stronghold across its border in Syria, to prevent the peace process with its Kurdish population from collapsing, imprisoned Kurdish leader Abdullah Ocalan said.
Islamic State fighters captured a strategic hill overlooking the city, Turkish state-run Anadolu Agency reported, as Turkey’s government sought parliamentary approval to join the fight. Meryem Kobane, a Kurdish commander inside the city, said her forces would fight house-to-house and turn the city into a “hell” for the Islamist fighters, pro-Kurdish Firat news agency reported today.
