Fung-Wong Leaves 7 Dead in Philippines, Heads to Taiwan

Typhoon Fung-Wong is approaching Taiwan packing wind gusts as strong as 55 knots (100 kilometers per hour) and leaving at least five dead in the Philippines where it caused Manila’s worst flooding in at least two years.
Fung-Wong, Phoenix in English, was centered about 340 nautical miles (630 kilometers) south-southwest of Taipei this morning, tracking northward at 10 knots according to the U.S. Navy’s Joint Typhoon Warning Center. It will probably make landfall in southern Taiwan tomorrow morning, the center forecasts.
