The Environmental Protection Agency may raise the mandate for renewable fuels based on the analysis that 85 percent ethanol fuel is a viable option for the increased adoption of those fuels, the American Petroleum Institute said in a statement today.

The group, which represents oil producers and refiners, opposes the mandate and has urged the EPA to stick to the limited mandate it proposed last year.
