Intel Upgrades Xeon Processors With More Efficient Design

Intel Corp., seeking to maintain its dominance in the market for chips that run corporate networks, introduced new versions of its Xeon processor that aim to make data centers more flexible.
The Xeon E5 V3 outperforms the prior model on a number of different benchmarks, said Diane Bryant, the head of Intel’s server business, at an event today in San Francisco. It’s also more power-efficient and connects with higher-performance memory, she said.
