Estonia Demands Russia Explain Why Security Officer Taken

Estonia demanded an explanation from Russia’s ambassador, saying one of its security officials was abducted at gunpoint and taken over the border. Russia said the official was arrested on its territory.

Russian envoy Yuri Merzlyakov was summoned to Estonia’s Foreign Ministry after the security official, identified as Eston Kohver, was detained near the Luhamaa border checkpoint in the Baltic country’s southeast, the Estonian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
