President Barack Obama indicated the U.S. has no immediate plans to strike Islamic State havens inside Syria, saying a strategy for confronting the extremist group beyond Iraq is still being formed.

“We don’t have a strategy yet,” Obama said at the White House yesterday when asked whether he would need congressional approval to hit targets in Syria. “There’s no point in me asking for action on the part of Congress before I know exactly what it is that is going to be required for us to get the job done.”
