George Barrett, Tennessee Civil-Rights Law Crusader, Dies at 86

George Barrett, the Tennessee lawyer who represented civil-rights plaintiffs for more than 50 years and helped end segregation of the state’s universities, has died. He was 86.
He died yesterday, the Associated Press reported, citing partners in his Nashville-based law firm.
