Dollar Rises to 9-Month High Versus Euro on Economic Data

The dollar rose to the strongest in nine months versus the euro after a report showed housing starts reached the highest level in eight months, adding to evidence the U.S. economy is gaining traction.
The Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index strengthened to an almost two-week high amid speculation faster economic growth will lead the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates next year. The pound dropped to a four-month low versus the dollar after U.K. inflation slowed. China’s yuan rose to a five-month high before a report forecast to show manufacturing expanded for a third straight month.
