North Korean leader Kim Jong Un replaced the country’s defense minister in the latest change in military leadership since the purge of his uncle six months ago.
Army General Hyon Yong Chol replaced Jang Jong Nam as Minister of the People’s Armed Forces, South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported today, citing a report from North Korea’s official Korean Central Television that referred to Hyon as minister. The change likely took place this month because the North’s official media had not referred to Jang as minister since June 4, it said.
