Latvian Credit Rating Raised by S&P on Growth Prospects

Latvia’s credit rating was raised one step by Standard & Poor’s, which cited the Baltic country’s “strong” economy and improving public finances.

S&P increased its assessment to A-, the fourth-lowest investment grade and equal to Poland and Malaysia, and assigned a stable outlook. Moody’s Investors Service and Fitch Ratings rate Latvia at two and three levels above junk.
