Mexico’s industrial output grew the most in almost two years in March, signaling the economy is gaining traction after missing analysts’ growth forecasts in three of the past four quarters.

Industrial activity increased 3.4 percent from a year earlier, the most since July 2012, compared with the 3.2 percent median forecast of 20 economists surveyed by Bloomberg, the national statistics institute said on its website today. Mexico’s latest economic reports have been encouraging after a first quarter of mixed results that may lead the central bank to cut its growth forecast for the year, bank Governor Agustin Carstens said in an interview last month.
