Croatia’s top political leaders need to work together to bring the former Yugoslav republic out of its longest economic recession on record and avoid “serious” social unrest, President Ivo Josipovic said.
“Like the historical consensuses on independence and the country’s future in the European Union, this is the moment when Croatia needs to seek an understanding on its economic direction within the wider political spectrum, primarily between the two major political parties,” Josipovic said in an April 25 interview in the capital, Zagreb. “If we are not able to agree on that, we won’t be able to solve our problems.”
