Corn prices are climbing in Ukraine as civil unrest escalates in the country that’s the world’s third-biggest exporter of the grain.
Spot corn prices climbed to about $225 a metric ton today in Ukraine, as much as $7 a ton higher than two days ago, said Sergey Feofilov, the general director of UkrAgroConsult, a market researcher based in Kiev. Clashes in the capital and in the western city of Lviv haven’t affected grain exports that mostly flow out of the country through southern Black Sea ports, he said.
