Kenya Bourse Plans Derivatives, REITs to Boost Market Value

The Nairobi Securities Exchange plans to start trading derivatives and real-estate investment funds this year as sub-Saharan Africa’s third-biggest bourse targets a fourfold rise in its market capitalization by 2023.
A system for trading derivatives has already been installed and the exchange has sent its rules on trading of REITs to the Capital Markets Authority for approval, head of Market and Product Development Donald Ouma said in an interview yesterday in the capital, Nairobi.
