A lawsuit comparing the New York City Police Department’s plan for security at the World Trade Center to building a “Berlin Wall” around the area was dismissed by a state-court judge.
A group of residents of Lower Manhattan sued the department in November, saying the plan would tie up traffic and pollute the air. New York State Supreme Court Justice Margaret Chan dismissed the suit in a ruling today, saying the police complied with federal environmental review regulations and evaluated alternatives.
