Ukraine’s leader offered a compromise to the opposition before a vote on ousting the cabinet as he seeks to ease anti-government protests that turned deadly last week.
Following calls from the U.S. and the European Union for Ukraine to revoke laws restricting protests, President Viktor Yanukovych agreed with opposition leaders yesterday to cancel the measures and propose an amnesty for activists detained during recent rallies in exchange for demonstrators surrendering official buildings they’ve seized.
