Canada to Modernize Israel Free Trade Agreement

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper announced his country will begin talks with Israel to expand the free trade agreement between the two countries.

Harper made the announcement following a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today in Jerusalem. They plan to enhance a trade agreement that came into force in 1997 with provisions to address regulatory matters and deal with other non-tariff trade barriers, according to a statement releaed by Harper’s office in Ottawa.
