Although theireconomies remain deeply intertwined, relations between the twogovernments seem locked in an irreversible, dangerous downwardspiral.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe further embitteredfeelings last week by visiting the controversial Yasukunishrine, which honors the souls of Japan’s war dead, including 14World War II leaders convicted as Class-A war criminals.
