Spot metallurgical coal in the U.S. declined on slack demand from foreign buyers, IHS Energy Publishing Inc. said today.

Low-volatility coal dropped $3.55, or 2.6 percent, to $135.20 a ton, the Knoxville, Tennessee-based data provider wrote in a note to clients.
