EIA Raises Forecast for U.S. Gasoline Use as Travel Picks Up

The Energy Information Administration increased its forecast of U.S. gasoline demand for this year and next amid indications that travel by car is picking up.

Gasoline demand will average 8.77 million barrels a day this year, up 0.5 percent from the EIA’s November outlook. Consumption in 2014 may be 8.74 million barrels a day, up from November’s estimate of 8.69 million, the statistical arm of the Energy Department said today in its monthly Short-Term Energy Outlook.
