U.K. Charity Watchdog Fails to Tackle Abuse, NAO Says

The Charity Commission, which overseas philanthropic organizations in the U.K., is ineffective and fails to identify and tackle abuse, the National Audit Office said.

The commission relies too much on the assurances of trustees that charitable status, which confers tax advantages, is being properly used, according to a report published by the NAO, the government’s spending watchdog, in London today.
