Sept. 20 (Bloomberg) -- Indonesians are taking to thestreets to demand the government heed their complaints. Are theylivid about corruption? No. Fed up with poverty? Not really.Angry over political gridlock? Not so much. It’s those damnbikinis.
In recent days, the nation with the world’s largest Muslimpopulation has been consumed by protests against the Miss Worldpageant finale Sept. 28, originally scheduled to be held nearJakarta. Muslim groups, including radical ones, have threatenedviolent attacks. The government has responded by moving theevent to Bali -- the Hindu-majority island popular withWesterners -- increasing security, and hoping for the best.
