Elias Kasidiaris, a lawmaker with Greece’s far right Golden Dawn party, will stand trial over assaulting a member of another political party on television last year after his parliamentary immunity was lifted today.
Kasidiaris faces charges of assault and battery after he punched Communist Party lawmaker Liana Kaneli on a live morning show on private ANT1 television channel in June. This is the second time Kasidiaris’s immunity has been lifted. Earlier this month he was cleared in a case involving a post-graduate student being beaten up in 2007, Skai TV reported, without citing anyone.
