SAC Adds to News Corp., EBay Stakes in Fourth Quarter
SAC Capital Advisors LP, the $14 billion hedge fund run by Steven A. Cohen, boosted its stakes in News Corp., EBay Inc. and Facebook Inc. in the fourth quarter.
The fund bought 5.9 million shares of News Corp., bringing its stake to 9.57 million shares as of Dec. 31, according to a filing today with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. SAC added 2.06 million shares of San Jose, California-based EBay, bringing its stake in the operator of the world’s largest online marketplace to 4.58 million shares. News Corp and EBay are SAC’s second-largest and third-largest holdings respectively.
SAC bought 8 million shares of Facebook, operator of the world’s largest social network, bringing its stake to 8.5 million shares, according to the filing.
Jonathan Gasthalter, a spokesman for Stamford, Connecticut- based SAC Capital, declined to comment.
