Turkey Kills PKK Member in Clash After Soldier Dies, Sabah Says

Turkish security forces killed a member of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK, in an operation that started after an officer died in an attack yesterday, Sabah reported.

One sergeant was wounded in a clash early today in the eastern province of Mus, according to the Istanbul-based newspaper. The PKK, which is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the European Union, has been fighting for autonomy in the southeast since 1984 in a conflict that has claimed more than 40,000 lives.
