Russia Reports Outbreak of Sheep Pox Virus in Far Eastern Region

Russia reported an outbreak of sheep pox virus in the Primorsky region in the Far East, according to Rosselkhoznadzor, the food safety watchdog.

The virus was found in a private farm in the village of Pavlo-Fedorovka, in a flock of 250 sheep, of which 24 died and 11 animals are infected, Rosselkhoznadzor said in a statement today. The service is investigating the source of the infection, it said.
