Indonesia Stock Movers: Astra International, Berau, Semen Gresik

Shares of the following companies had unusual (JCI) moves in Indonesian trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses, and prices are as of the close in Jakarta.

The Jakarta Composite Index fell for a second day, dropping 0.3 percent to 3,751.60.

PT Astra International (ASII) , Indonesia’s largest auto retailer, declined 3.9 percent to 72,000 rupiah, the sharpest drop since Oct. 3. Indonesia’s November domestic vehicle sales fell to 67,656 units, from 86,346 units a month earlier, Astra said, citing data from the nation’s automotive industries association.

PT Berau Coal Energy (BRAU) , a coal producer, gained 3.6 percent to 435 rupiah, the highest close since Oct. 31. The company expects coal production next year to rise to 23 million tons from an estimated 20 million tons this year, President Director Rosan Perkasa Roeslani said.

PT Semen Gresik (SMGR) , Indonesia’s biggest cement producer, rose 4.9 percent to 10,750 rupiah, a record close. The company expects to start operating its Tuban 4 plant in East Java province in February and the Tonasa 5 plant in South Sulawesi province in June, President Director Dwi Soetjipto said. The new plants will help Semen Gresik increase sales to 22.5 million metric tons next year, Soetjipto said, without providing a comparative figure.
