Mariners’ Outfielder Stabbed to Death at Home in Holland, Dutch Police Say

Gregory Anthony Halman, a Dutch baseball player for the Seattle Mariners, was stabbed to death in Rotterdam today. He was 24.

Halman’s brother Jason was arrested at the house where the incident took place, a police spokeswoman who declined to be identified as a matter of policy said by telephone today.

Halman, who was born in the Dutch city of Haarlem, had his major league debut in September 2010, according to the Major League Baseball website. He played in 35 games this season, batting .230 and hitting two homers. Halman played all three outfield positions.
