Rand, S. Africa Bonds Maintain Gain After September Inflation

The rand maintained its advance against the dollar and bonds remained stronger after South African inflation for September was close to analysts’ estimates.

The currency of Africa’s biggest economy traded 0.2 percent stronger at 7.9829 by 10:06 a.m. Johannesburg time, compared with 7.9822 before the data were released. The 13.5 percent government bonds due September 2015 maintained increases, with the yield dropping four basis points, or 0.04 percentage point, to 6.764 percent.
