Andy Coulson, the former News of the World editor who resigned as U.K. Prime Minister David Cameron’s press chief in January, was arrested in a probe of phone-hacking by the tabloid, a person familiar with the matter said.
Coulson turned himself in at 10:30 a.m., said the person who declined to be identified because they weren’t authorized to speak on the matter. The ex-editor was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to hack into mobile-phone messages and in conjunction with an investigation, begun this week, into claims the tabloid paid police officers for stories.
