SK Telecom Co., South Korea’s largest mobile-phone carrier, will sell handsets using its fourth-generation network from September to meet demand for faster downloads of video and games on smartphones.

The offerings will begin with devices from Samsung Electronics Co. and HTC Corp. that will be the first in South Korea to use the fourth-generation mobile technology known as long term evolution, or LTE, SK Telecom said today. The Seoul-based carrier plans to offer five LTE handsets this year and two tablet computers supporting the network from October, it said in an e-mailed statement.
