Zimbabwe Tobacco Growers to Rise to 63,733, Herald Reports

About 63,733 farmers may grow tobacco during Zimbabwe’s 2011-2012 farming season from about 53,065 this year, the state-controlled Herald said, citing a statement from the government’s Tobacco Industry and Marketing Board.

Most of the new growers of the leaves will farm on small-scale plots, the Harare-based Herald said. The TIMB has registered 4,025 medium-scale growers and 1,697 large-scale tobacco farmers,
