Mexico’s opposition Party of the Democratic Revolution, or PRD, opted out of its alliance with President Felipe Calderon’s National Action Party, or PAN, for the governor’s race in the State of Mexico, El Universal newspaper reported.

The PRD instead approved a coalition with the Labor Party and Convergence Party, and the alliance will headed by the PRD’s Alejandro Encinas, the Mexico City-based newspaper said.
