Toyota Resuming Japan Parts Production for Overseas Plants

Toyota Motor Corp. (7203) is resuming Japanese production of parts for its overseas assembly plants as it recovers from the March 11 earthquake, said a spokesman for the automaker’s European arm.

The Japanese carmaker, which has halted domestic vehicle assembly, is producing parts for its home replacement market and overseas vehicle assembly, Etienne Plas, a spokesman for the automaker’s European unit, said by telephone. The company is working to anticipate and avoid parts shortages at its European production lines, he said.
