Toledo Maintains Lead in Peru Presidential Race, Polls Show

Former Peruvian president Alejandro Toledo held his lead ahead of next month’s presidential election, two polls of voters show.

Toledo, who was president of Peru between July 2001 and July 2006, had the support of 27 percent of those surveyed, down from 29 percent in January, said Lima-based Catholic University yesterday in a report posted on its website.
