Canadian Dollar Rallies to Highest in Almost Three Years on Oil

Canada’s currency climbed to its highest level in almost three years against its U.S. counterpart as crude oil had its biggest weekly gain since 2009 on concern Libya’s uprising reduced supplies.

The loonie, as the Canadian dollar is known for the image of the aquatic bird on the C$1 coin, was poised for a monthly increase before the Bank of Canada policy meeting next week. The Canadian currency rose for a second straight week as economists forecast a report will show the nation’s economic growth accelerated in the fourth quarter.
