Stena, KKR Interested to Buy Istanbul Ferry Company, Dunya Says

Stena AB, a Swedish shipping company, and U.S. private equity firm KKR & Co LP and are among those interested to acquire Istanbul’s ferry operator, Dunya said, without saying where it got the information.

TAV Havalimanlari Holding AS, Turkey’s biggest airport operator, Istanbul-based Fiba Holding AS, Koc Holding AS, Boydak Group, Zorlu Group are also interested in buying Istanbul Deniz Otobusleri Sanayi & Ticaret AS, known as IDO, it said.

Istanbul’s municipality said on Jan.4 it expects to get bids to sell its 100 percent stake in IDO by March 31.

Greece’s Maritime Company of Lesvos and its Turkish private equity firm Rhea Girisim Sermayesi Yatirim Ortakligi AS will put a joint bid in the auction, Rhea said on Feb 9.

Interested companies must have at least $200 million of sales in 2010 and private equity firms must manage at least $200 million of assets to be able to bid in the auction, Dunya said.
