Toledo Extends Lead Before Peru Election, Poll Shows

Former Peruvian President Alejandro Toledo has extended his lead ahead of April’s presidential election, a poll by Lima-based Datum Internacional shows.
Toledo, who led the Andean country from July 2001 to July 2006, had 30 percent support, up three percentage points from last month, according to the poll published today by Peru.21 newspaper. Support for Keiko Fujimori, a congresswoman and daughter of jailed former President Alberto Fujimori, was unchanged at 20 percent.
