Ecuador Business Confidence Drops on Crime, Proposed Tax Change

Ecuador business confidence fell in January, the first decline in three months, as a jump in crime and proposed tax changes increased executives’ concerns about the economy, Deloitte & Touche LLP said.
An index measuring company confidence in Ecuador fell to 92.3 last month from 95.4 in February out of a possible 250, the consulting firm’s Quito office said today in a report. A year ago, Ecuador’s business confidence registered 83 points, the survey said.
