German officials have seized assets belonging to the family of former Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, Die Welt reported, without saying where it got the information.

Several bank accounts and property in Frankfurt were seized after a European Union ordinance went into effect that froze assets belonging to Ben Ali, his wife and 46 family members, the newspaper reported in an article sent by e-mail today.
