French Minister Warns Shale Oil Explorers on Environment

Energy companies will be denied permission to explore for shale oil in France if the environment isn’t protected, a French minister said.
“We will hold a meeting as soon as possible with the holders of oil shale exploration permits,” Environment Minister Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet told parliament today. “I will prevent all work if the environmental conditions aren’t met.”
