UniCredit SpA, co-owner of AS Roma, is in talks with a group of U.S. investors about a potential sale of the three-time Italian soccer champion.

Thomas DiBenedetto, a partner in the holding company that owns the Boston Red Sox and Liverpool, is leading negotiations with UniCredit and is seeking to make a bid by the Jan. 31 deadline, according to Julian Movsesian, president of Succession Capital Alliance, who said in a telephone interview he’s among the group of “five to eight” investors.
