Egyptian anti-government demonstrators are preparing to step up their protest against President Hosni Mubarak with nationwide rallies today as civil unrest spreads around Arab countries.
This “is the big day,” Essam El-Erian, a senior member of the Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist group and the main opposition, said in a telephone interview yesterday. The action will follow the rally of Jan. 25, when thousands took to the streets of Cairo and major cities. “We expect mass protests around the country,” he said.
