Vivendi SA received a final $3.8 billion payment from General Electric Co. for its former 20 percent stake in NBC Universal entertainment group, gaining cash for a bid to gain full control of mobile-phone division SFR.

The transaction, which pays for the remaining 12.3 percent holding in NBC following an initial $2 billion transfer in September, was completed Jan. 25, Paris-based Vivendi said in a statement today. The payment will allow the completion of a separate deal shifting GE’s control of NBC, whose assets include the U.S. television network of the same name, to Comcast Corp.
