Bank of Greece, Europe Discussed Debt Buyback, Kathimerini Says

Greece’s central bank participated in the first formal talks last week on buying back the country’s bonds from investors and the European Central Bank using loans from the European Financial Stability Fund, Kathimerini said.
Officials from other European nations were involved in the discussions with the Bank of Greece on Jan. 20, the Athens-based newspaper reported, without saying how it got the information. Greece may initially buy back debt expiring this year should it get approval from European political leaders, it said.
