Natural gas futures climbed to the highest price in more than five months for a second day on forecasts of frigid weather that may deplete a surplus of the heating fuel.
Gas advanced for a fifth week as temperatures may be below normal in the eastern U.S. through Feb. 4, according to MDA Federal Inc.’s EarthSat Energy Weather in Rockville, Maryland. U.S. stockpiles last week were 1.9 percent above the five-year average, down from a 5.8 percent surplus a week earlier, the Energy Department said yesterday.
