BP Says Climate Progress Not Enough to Stabilize CO2

Progress on climate change is insufficient to stabilize carbon-dioxide emissions, BP Plc said in its Energy Outlook 2030 report.

Global carbon-dioxide emissions from energy will grow an average of 1.2 percent a year through 2030, BP said. Emissions from countries outside the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development will rise 2.2 percent annually in the period to 53 percent above current levels by 2030, the report said.

CO2 per unit of gross domestic product will fall 42 percent by 2030, BP said. “Overall, this implies some progress towards climate change goals, but not enough to put the world on a path to stabilization,” the report said.
