Vietnam’s Communist Party vowed to “stabilize” the economy amid investors calls to curb inflation and shore up government finances as it signaled Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung would stay for a second term.

“One of our top priorities now is to stabilize the macro economy in order to maintain the pace of growth,” Nguyen Van Thao, deputy chief administrator of the Communist Party’s Central Committee, told reporters today at the close of the eight-day National Congress. “All these issues are still under control. Foreign debt is under control, inflation is under control.”
