Chancellor Angela Merkel doesn’t expect Germany’s duties in efforts to save the euro to weaken support for her Christian Democratic Union as it contests seven state elections this year.
Merkel said she has strived to combine solidarity with Germany’s euro-region partners with measures that increase the bloc’s stability. She spoke to reporters in Mainz, the capital of Rhineland-Palatinate, where elections will be held March 27.
